The most arduous role I’ve had to live through is that of a caregiver for over 39 years for my two children who were born with sickle cell disease. My oldest son had a massive stroke at the age of 2. Having 5 aneurysms removed from his skull, left him in a wheelchair for the next 17 years and 11 months. Marcellous went on to be with the Lord in May of 2003. My youngest son, Courtney, still battles the disease. The Lord helped me to raised two children with a chronic disease (one of which was special needs) while serving in the Lord’s church. A survivor of domestic violence, Debra went through the death of her marriage in 1987, when her children were very young. It has not been easy, and many times I wanted to give up, but the Lord used a merry heart and laughter to bring me through some very dark and hard times in my life. God did not allow the enemy to take me out or lose my mind, but he transformed by mind, by the washing of the water of his word. The prayer ministry and the teaching ministry have been my greatest weapons in my life as a divorced single mother.
